Default Two Browser Globes, one with Lock, one without lock

Please Login to Remove!

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I did a search and didn't find an answer directly to this question I have.

On my 8830 (v4.2.2.176) from my company (BES) I have two browsers. One globe has a lock, and it's got the company name on it. The other is just called "internet browser" and appears to be Sprint's doing (it has the powerdeck homepage).

Do I need both? Can I delete one? Problem is that they have different home pages (and I like the carrier browser's home page better). It seems like bookmarks are common for both, so if I don't remove one, do I just make sure settings (and homepage) are the same and forget about it?

Not the worlds biggest problem, just a little confusing. Thanks!
Tony

hmm, delete one?
i dont think so....

i was on BES for a while and noticed that sometimes the BES browser would work when the "Internet Browser" wouldnt, and vice-versa...

either way, i dont believe the 2 icons are really 2 different apps; they just represent the 2 different browsing service books (one from carrier, one from BES) that are enabled on your device...

you could hide one if its bothering you...

Wirelessly posted (8830)

Thanks breakerfall, I will try that. Will just hide one and make sure their option settings are the same.

Question More Information

I found a little more through trial and error, and "hiding" one browser doesn't seem to address.

I received a link to an internal intranet site and clicked it. The non-corporate browser launched and failed to open the site (got a 503 error). Then I opened the corporate browser and pasted the address in with the go to function and viola, it worked no problem.

So, new questions:
1) Is there's any value in retaining the non-corporate browser?
2) Can I remove it so that it isn't launched when I don't want it to be (e.g., following an email link)?
3) Or can I otherwise change options so that links are opened with the corporate browser so I don't have this problem?

Thanks

Thanks! That seems to take care of my main issue, I appreciate it.

Am I missing any value to the non-corporate one? I think I will now hide it and forget about it.

id say maybe, just _maybe_ the sites you visit wouldnt be logged on the BES (where _everything_ can be logged) when browsing with the non-corporate one...
