My Girlfriend has got a new Blackberry but start use it before I could transfer all the data from her old one. Now she wants me to do it without losing the new data that she has on her new blackberry.
I backed up the old one but how to I add the back up to the new data rather than replacing it?

Dom, if you restore, it will overwrite, and not simply add.

I don't know if the switch device wizard adds rather than overwrites. I suspect it overwrites, but don't know for certain. My advice is backup both the old and new devices and then run the switch device wizard and see. If it does overwrite, then at least you have the backups and your GF can decide what to do.

Post an update on what you figure out. My bet is the wizard overwrites the data already on the new BlackBerry. But I'd be happy to be wrong.

Been a bit strange really. All her new contacts up dated but her calendar didn't so I've got to try and update that without losing her old ones. Might put the new phone back up onto the old phone and transfer manually.
Nobody knows a way of opening the calendar on the computer to view it when the phones not attached do they?

I believe you can sync with Outlook - get the calendars or contacts merged and cleaned/de-duped - then clear the data from the.BB and sync back. Just have backups just in case.

aiharkness is correct, the device switch wizard will wipe all data on the new BB. Your best option is to sync with outlook and try cleaning up the data. you say she got a "new" blackberry. Depending on the amount of data on the old and new she may have learned a lesson on patients.

It's my understanding the blackberry desktop software uses more of an imaging process to backup and restore than a file-by-file method. This effectively wipes the device as you restore data to it.
