Default Can't install 4.1.0.529

Yes, I know everyone is busy figuring out how to get 4.2 on their devices, but I don't need the extra functionality and I really don't want all of the extra headache.

In my Options-About page it states I have v4.1.0.194 (platform 2.0.0.90).

From Cingular's website I go to downloads from RIM, and the RIM page states that I can download 4.1.0.529 (software platform 2.0.0.152) for my device.

I get the following error message when I try to install:

"The system applications that are currently installed on the device are newer than those available with this version of the BlackBerry Desktop Software."

I am given two options:

"Leave the system applications on the device unchanged. (Recommended)"
"Select this option if you want to continue loading non-system applications while leaving the system applications that are currently installed on the device unchanged."

"Replace the device's applications with the older version provided by the BlackBerry Desktop Software."
"Select this option if you want to install the older applications."

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

I would try uninstalling all blackberry programs and upgrades, and then redownload blackberry desktop and the latest OS from here:

Good Luck!

Will it make any difference if I install Desktop 4.2 when the OS is 4.1?

Install the latest version of Desktop Manager. 4.2 SP1

Then downloading and install the OS to the PC again. Make sure it's the latest version that you want.

Then locate and delete the vendor.xml file from your PC's C:\ drive.

Then plug in the BB and try again.

you may have a 3rd party app in the application loader that is an older version than one installed on the device. e.g you used the app loader to install a program n than it received an ota update, just uncheck the out of date program on the select application screen of the app loader
