I believe you have to pay when you pick it up instead of having it billed to your account. (At least, I've always had to pay when I get one at the store, most recently just before Christmas.)

I am going from AT&T to T-Mobile just to get this phone. I called the store today and they are holding it for me tomorrow. So i get my hands on it without a problem. New users have a better advantage right?

Will I be able to get internet on the 8900 wherever I am? I'm looking to buy the phone and need to be connected to the internet wherever I am. Also, will I be able to load my itunes music on it? Thanks in advance everyone.

If you have a Blackberry Data plan, yes, you can get the internet over EDGE. It is faster using UMA, (WiFi) though.
If you have DRM free .mp3 files, you can play those. As for the iTunes .aac files, I don't know if it will play those even if they are DRM free.

When the phone comes, there should (might) be the rebate form in the box.

Just thinking aloud...
If the objective is to have an 8900 but use AT&T as the carrier, wouldn't it be less expensive to sign up with TMobile, get the phone for $300, cancel service a couple weeks later ($175 out of pocket) and sign up/use the phone with AT&T? A less expensive proposition then buying an 8900 on eBay for $600.
I wouldn't do this (its unethical) as I plan on moving from Verizon to TMobile due mostly to the 8900 (this would be my first BB - moving away from a Palm Centro). But I am concerned with service and reception from TMobile as they are a smaller carrier then Verizon or AT&T.
is this a legitimate concern regarding poor reception/dropped calls? 90% of my incoming/outgoing calls are within southern California with the remaining 10% in the continental USA.
Thanks for reading.

When/If you do this I would like to be one the first to say Welcome to the T-Mobile Family. Have you check the Coverage Map?

Arrggghhhh, could never find a CSR to sell it early. Went to the store this morning, they had 5, I was first in line. Give them my phone # and BAM, my dream is killed. If you are attached to a corporate account for discounts (as our company lets us do), you can't upgrade in store, only on the web or on the phone.
Call Tmob, no way they could do it in store without losing my discount. It's not losing my 15% disc so I ordered it online, but they gave me free express shipping for the hassle.
Now I have to wait longer!!

Now this is strange.. last year May I had upgraded to the Curve 8320 for my other phone line from a store although my account is tied to a corporate discount one.

I know the coverage is there. But it doesn't mean reception is good. Then again, I've learned there are some phones (including the Centro) that have lousy antennas.

it's times like these when i get sad that i'm not eligible for any upgrade discounts. i get bored with my phones, and have an average phone shelf life of about 8 months.
so yeah, ebay it is!
PS - has anybody heard of a winner in that contest that t-mobiel was doing where they were giving away like, six of these phones a day or something crazy like that? i need to hunt down that person, haha.
