Default korean input

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I am currently not a BB owner, but am seriously am considering joining the "BB community."

I am interested in being able to input Korean (and possibly simplified Chinese as well) with my BB. I know that monthly fees exist for services, but I'm looking for some software that can do the same thing. I know that the 8700g/8707g has a "multi-lingual OS", but I was wondering if it's possibly to somehow put that multilingual OS in a BB that's locked to cingular?

or do I just have to buy an unlocked 8700g/8707g?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You can install the software from any carrier so long as you delete the vendor.xml and it's possible to use the 8707 OS on an 8700 and the other way around all you need to do is for the 8700 is install the 8700 software then the 8707 software and copy the contents of the 8707 folder into the 8700 folder. After that the installation can begin.

You should delete or rename the vendor.xml from your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.

I thought that the OS4.2 for the 8700 did not work for the 8707? I've seen a few posts where users were unable to install 8700's OS4.2 on the 8707. Were you able to do this per your method above (I still don't understand your method above by the way, care to clarify)?

I have an unlocked 8707g (originally from O2 out of the UK) and it does have Korean fonts installed, but all I can do is read Korean font via the browser, IM and certain email messages, but I cannot input in Korean. So, I'm not sure you can get Korean input by installing a multi-language OS. If you were able to do this and now able to input Korean, please let me know. Thanks.
