We had an issue after deploying the LDAP keys where any externally sent email from a BlackBerry was being sent in Rich Text format (causing issues with some recipients who weren't using Outlook, etc).
We worked with RIM and Microsoft on the issue (a couple of quite amusing finger pointing conference calls) and we eventually put it down to how BES set the PR_SEND_RICH_INFO property to TRUE when it created the message.
As a result we had to remove the LDAP Reg Keys from the BES Servers and suffer the occasional incomplete lookup results.
We were informed that RIM would be fixing it in a future release of BES but we are yet to test it with SP6 and I don't recall seeing anything in the Release Notes about it.
The only other issue was that lookups were performed against our entire directory so you could also search for computer names and they would be returned in the results. I believe there is a way to limit the search to specific OUs but you would want to discuss that with RIM as I'm not sure what's involved.
