Default WiFi vs 3G---speed and power usage

Please Login to Remove!

If you have an unlimited data plan and, generally, good access to WiFi and 3G which one do you use and why? Stated differently, when you can use both, which one do you choose and why?

Is one faster than the other?
Does one use more power than the other?

Just curious...

Hard to say which uses more power as it would really depend upon how much you use either.

I have both 3G and WiFi. Don't really care how the device connects, as long as it does. Parts of my house can't get an ATT signal, so WiFi keeps me connected for email.

This test is not definitive, but it is still good info.

If you are within distance of a wifi connection, it will always be Consistently faster by far. You my occasionally find a 3G connection that competes but it so darn inconsistent. Wifi is being transmitted from within the room or building you are in. 3G is being transmitted from distant towers that can be effected by weather, traffic, etc...

Default What if 3G and Wifi are both on and connected?

Obviously, the battery will drain more quickly, but which connection method will the phone utilize? Will it automatically use one method over the other?
