Default Geotagging photos on Storm

Please Login to Remove!

Hey BBForumites,

I have had the Storm for 3 weeks now and I just noticed Geotagging on photos.
Am I just slow or did I miss this during the first few days.

Any feedback on your usage?

Well I don't know all of the ins and outs of this but when you select a picture you have taken with your storm hit menu key and the show on map. Blackberry maps will then open up and show you the photo and where on the map it was taken. Not sure how you use with other people. Still waiting for someone to try it out with.

I don't have "show on map" as a choice under my menu when viewing a photo.... hmmmm

Did you select a photo you took while geo tagging was on?

Alright so here is what has taken place since..

Using BB Maps I left my GPS on and then jumped to my camera. While in Camera mode I saw that GPS was turned on and was receiving satellites.

I took the picture and sent it to my other email account. I did not see any LAT/LON coordinates on the photo.

Maybe This " What's the best website for geotagged photos? - Internet Applications Software "
will help . If you use such sites as Picasa , Flicker and such . This is where Geotagging come in handy especially when your on a road trip and want to keep friends and family abreast of your trip . It is a nice feature, I'm looking to replace my Digital Rebel XTi with one that has that built in feature .

We use Geotagging at work for identifying the location of field gear.

Irfanvew w/ pluggins will transpose the Grid reference into Google Maps.

It works really well... you can also view them in BB Maps of course.

I can confirm the above method works - open BB Maps (doesn't work w/ Google Maps - even w/ the GPS working there...), Start GPS, then take a picture w/ Geotagging turned on.

It will then allow you to show it on BB Maps... so, it's a good thing I hadn't removed BB Maps yet... Guess I'll run w/ both Mapping programs.
