I am trying to switch all of my info over to my new 8900. Going through the Desktop Manager, I keep having to reset the 8900 because of an App Error.

200 Application manager threw an uncaught exception The application manager event thread threw an uncaught exception and cannot continue execution.

What application is causing it? I am assuming it is a 3rd party app which won't run on the 8900 or you need an updated version. All of the BB apps should already be on the device.

If its a BB app, then you will most likely need to reload the OS.

I was using the Desktop Manager to migrate all of my data from my 8700 device to my new 8900. This was interrupted and then I wound up with the App Error 200 crash. The BlackBerry would not even start, I would get to a white screen with the watch, then have to reset. I went through this a few times before I sent the request for help.

This has been fixed with help from the FAQ, I had to download the JLCommander and wipe the new 8900 and re-install the OS.

I'm gonna do the same thing soon: use DM to load stuff that was on my 8100 onto my 8900. My question is: will DM ask me to check whatever apps I want to move before it does anything? I really will only want my contacts and calendar to transfer, not stuff like MiniOpera and Berry411 and Texas Hold'em because they probably won't work. Will I have a chance to make those choices before the fact or will it get messed up like his did?

I'm using an older DM than you are but I think it should still work.
When you open the backup file & set up the restore, one of the options should be Advanced. That should give you a detailed breakdown of the backup & you can pick specific things to restore. You have to know ALL of the files that make up what you want. Hope that helps.
