Very Loose side rails on my AT&T 9700
Please Login to Remove!
Ok, just got my 9700 delivered this afternoon. First impressions, very nice looking! But not a huge leap at all from previous models. Honestly, I like the Black trackball on my 8900 better. One major gripe right now is that the side rails are extremly loose. Come on Rim, are we back to the 8800 days with loose squeeky fake metal rails. Seriously, someone needs to up the build quaility on there devices. And even worse, crazy lag on the device! Not as peppy as some have been saying. I'm a BB veteran, so I'll do a swap in a few days after some use and see if it grows on me. However, build quiality in my eyes has really dropped on RIMS devices in the last few year, for the exception of the original bold.

The AT&T 9700 doesn't have side rails.
Are you referring to the chrome bezel?
We just got 6 9700's in and they're all very solid.
I think you got a lemon.

lol...yes the chrome on the side! Loose on both sides. And as a whole the phone is just not working right. Contacts are excepting me on BBM, but Im not showing them as bbm contacts. You may be right, a lemon is what it looks like.

Sounds like you got a poorly manufactured device. Which happens all the time with all device and device makers when mass production is in the equation. I would take it back to AT&T and get a replacement. The majority of 9700's out there are well built and the 9700 is by far the snappiest BlackBerry device on the market.

Yea, I'm going to return it! Have to wait a few days though. AT&T didn't release the 9700 in the stores yet. So glad I ordered over the phone through premiere : ( I called to explain, and they said it would take a few weeks to ship me out a new one, or I could go to a store Monday and swap....hmmm, hard decision! I'll be there bright and early Monday morning...lol!

this is a known issue and has been reported on multple BB forum sites about this device... the 3 9700s ive had all show the issue. its my understanding that devices built at mexico are struggling a significant amount more than those built in hungary.

These posts make me glad mine appears to be built like a mini-tank (knock on wood).
