Default Calendar Problem After Upgrade

After I upgraded I noticed that my calendar entries no longer show up on the home screen. If I go into an entry and save it, then I have duplicate calendar entries and the new one will show up on the home screen.

Do I have to resave every calendar item and then delete the old one to fix my calendar?

I had massive calendar dupe problems, but I was using SyncJe (their support team is looking in to the problem as well) and the initial sync doubled all my entries from my online calendar. All said and done here's how I fixed it:

1) open desktop manager, synchronize.
2) in the Config tab, configure *only* the Calendar to Export to the ASCII Importer/Exporter and choose a new filename in the box at the bottom
3) run the sync, this exports your calendar to this file
4) double check the export file in Notepad just to be sure it's all there
5) on the device, put the Calendar into Agenda view
6) Go to the very last date (bottom), and on the Date bar itself click the menu key and choose 'Delete Prior' - this deletes everything but the last event. Now delete the one remaining item.
7) back in the desktop Synchronize, change to config from step #2 to Import
8) run sync and it will import the ASCII text file data back into your handheld

Of course make sure you do a full/normal device backup just in case, but once I did this process everything clicked back into place on my SyncJe stuff and I'm good.

This happened to me when I had WPA2 security on my Verizon Fios supplied router. I'm now using WEP security on a Linksys WRT54GS router and no problems since then.

Update: after hour 3, got a message on my desktop that it couldn't connect to device due to password. Funny, as I did not set up a password for my device. So I safely removed device from desktop, reset device by removing the battery and set up wizard popped on my device screen. When thru the process, send the service book as advised, reloaded home page pics, etc... but unfortunately, as I did not sync my phone prior to os upgrade, lost all information on my phone. Can't wait to get home to sync up my darn phone! agh!

I'm not sure what HRT is, can you go into more detail so I can get this fixed?

HRT = Host Routing Table. Options -> Advanced -> Host Routing Table, he's saying pick another entry and (menu key)->Register, then do a battery pull.

(just helping with the 411, I have no clue about this specific trick)

I noticed that when I have conversations going in BBMessenger that a battery pull deletes those conversations. Didn't notice it in other versions but maybe I just never noticed.

If you do a battery pull without powering off the device, you'll lose your active BB messenger conversations as well as google talk conversations and so on.

If I power my phone down, then pull the battery, it retains said conversations.

Anyone else notice we're having far more problems with this release then the .175? Odd...

I followed your instructions and it seems to have corrected my problem. Thanks so much for saving me all that time recreating all 300+ calendar entries.

This forum rocks.

Awesome! I fought with this for a day before the magic idea of how to do that struck me (I think while I was in the shower, heh) and Nexthaus had no idea how to help either.

As per another thread, it seems like this issue (lost calendar "anchors" internally) is some sort of 4.2.2.x device OS bug when you upgrade, a number of folks are getting it in different ways - at first I thought it was my SyncJe's client fault, but now with all the reports on the forum I don't think so anymore...

Did you install all the vendor themes? I noticed the same thing, and I'm thinkning its the fact that I installed all the vendor themes.

I'm thinking of re-installing and removing the themes, b/c I wasn't blown away by any of them, and having more free memory is more important to me.

I *think* you can just delete the theme modules (options -> advanced -> apps -> menukey: modules, net_rim_theme_* ) and reboot the device, but verify this with someone who's done it first just to be safe.

Exclamation

The Javaloader (from JL_Cmder) erase function may also be used to remove unwanted Theme modules.
(The BB restarts after each theme module is deleted individually.)
But one has to be very careful with the Javaloader!

OK -- That seems like it would be much easier. Can anyone confirm if this works?

Thanks...

I don't believe you can delete OS modules directly from the device. You don't get the option to delete them.

OK -- reinstalled the OS, left blackberry alx as-is, and I went from 16.5 up to 20 meg free.
