Default Blackberry Messenger vs. Text Messaging (SMS)

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone tell me why it is better to use Blackberry Messenger instead of regular text messaging? What's the advantage?

One thing I assume is that SMS doesn't go through RIM's servers which is... good?

Is it just personal preference?

Thanks!

I lean toward this being a Storm specific a question because when I ask, I am including the way the Storm alerts/processes the messages.

Better? Not really, especially IF the other user doesn't have a BlackBerry... you must use SMS then.

One, the BBMessenger is included in your data plan, if that is unlimited on your account, you can BBM all you want with no additional charge, which could then free you up to lessen your SMS plan to something less costly.

Otherwise, it depends on your preference and who you are messaging.

If the other person is in another country, but has a BB, then the messaging is free for you. With texts however, you pay international texts rates, which 25c/text for Verizon!
