Default Battery Life - Animated Themes

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, this is an open ended question to those theme builders out there.

I set up my theme on my bold, just as an experiment (the MAtrix one) and left it without the charger.

Now, I know the BOLD has battery issues, but seriously, I don;t think it took more than about 2 hours before I was at half battery life with the animation.

Anyone else document any figures, based on number of frames in the animation and timeline for the loop?

Mine seems to be about 6 frames running over 1-2 seconds for the loop.

There must be a problem here somewhere?

So you are saying your battery would be at or near full drain in 4 hours? Ya, that's a problem, and one that goes well beyond the typical battery complaints.

I would try adding some of the loops to the frames/animation. So the single file contains several loops, and the device doesn't have to process the actual "loop" so often.

Makes Sense Shaun.

Not sure on the viability of it, or it's just a combo problem with the Bold, hence the thread

I'm pretty sure, when I did the theme for BBF it had over 100 frames, and certainly didn't kill the battery that much.

This would lend credence to my previous post.

As in many animations, the processor load increases at the point of the loop (end of the animation sequence). So if your BBF had 100+ frames, that would mean it is looping (end to start) with less frequency, and thereby reducing the process load.

My advice would be to take frame 1-6 and duplicate them several times within the animation (svg) file. This will space out the frequency of the (end to start) loop that the device will have to process.

Here I was thinking less frames would be better. I will try what Shaun said, it sure cannot hurt anything. Thanks!

i have had an animated theme on my bold for a while, but if you keep it locked/in holster you are fine on battery life.

Default Animated theme issues

so i am currently rockin this theme
www "dot" pimpmyberry "dot" com/showthread "dot" php?t=1974

i found that on average i have 72 hours battery life with a non-animated theme. when i apply this theme i cuts that in half (or even less). i am wondering to find out how many loops this theme has, and how to increase the number of loops if they are too low.

thanx
