Can someone help me setup the Rove File Manager to browse network computers? I'm on the Wifi network and can get OperaMini to browse the internet on my local wifi network, but I can't connect to the share folder on my work computer. My 8320 is getting an IP address on the local network and is responding form the ping. I also setup a share folder on my work computer and is being seen on the network, but I cannot use TCP/IP to connect to it. It is stuck at fetching the folder screen. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jeff, I believe you have also posted this same question on another website, I will post the same reply here.

Did you set the Connection method to "Wi-Fi" ? What did you set as the URL of the Windows File Share? I use an 8320 as well and use Wifi to access my file shares with no problems.

I entered "smb://myservername/myrootfolder", as well as my windows username and password to connect to the file share.

I recommend that you contact our support team directly and they can help diagnose exactly what your problem is and find a solution much quicker:

It is good to hear you are aware of the issues already. Thank you for the update!

Thank you for this software. I can now edit files on my website without having to go to a computer.

Question

I also have a question on the settings for browsing network shares on a simple home network. I don't have BIS or BES or a data plan. BB Pearl 8120. Connection is already set to Wi-Fi. My computers are in a P2P network - no domain controllers or similar. What should be my settings in the Windows Networking Settings screen? I could not find any info in your online KB - it is very brief on most answers.

Thanks in advance.

Default PC Mobilizr

I ran a short trial of PC Mobilizr - wanted to do a show & tell on my next on-air TV segment, but so far they're ignoring my requests to leave it turned on after the initial short trial - but I still had it long enough to be totally in love with it.

I have two desktop monitors, each at 1280x1040. This lets me see them both from my BlackBerry, send them commands and mouse clicks and text and do some other cool tricks. On the theme of applications that make your handset a way to give yourself permission to leave that chair at your desk, this is one of the sweetest offerings I've seen. I ran a short item that mentioned it in this last week's issue of my Bulletin and hope to do a full review, but right now, it's disabled.

It's all very frustrating - like finding out that the hottest, horniest woman you've ever met is locked up where you can never reach her.

(As a journalist, I can't ethically pay for things I review without being in the position of an underwriter of the company, which can shade coverage; you guys don't face that and can decide whether it's worth $9.50/month for you - I'll bet a lot of you will think so - do the trial).

I guess my long briefing message didn't post.

Anybody who's interested can send me a PM with an e-mail address and I'll respond with a PDF of it.

The free mini sftp server from the coreftp people works. I'm using it on Vista with no problems and the Rove client likes it.

According to Rove's web site
"Rove Mobile Viewer for BlackBerry has been discontinued as of September 16, 2008."
And I couldn't find the explorer that was mentioned. I Couldn't confirm if it was removed as well, but it's not listed on their products page.

Umm yes. It is alternate in functionality. I am not aware of a free app that does the same thing, so this is the only other option.

I found this application today for free. Works great. Since I am not able to post the link due to not enough posts I will do a partial so just fill in the blanks.

www blackberryfreeware com 2008 03 blackberry-file-manager html

Place the / in place of the spaces and a perios after the www, period in front of the com and html.
