Hi, I have a BlackBerry 9650 that makes a sound when it's just sitting there, like about every 5 minutes., it almost sounds like a video or a song is trying to start to play, the sound only lasts about a sec.
any suggestions? also, the phone is on silent when this is happening.

Clock or calendar alarm? The alarm is different from an alert, and a profile. Or maybe audio from an app?

What have you tried to trouble shoot?

Is it coming from the speaker? Do you hear it through headphones?

Any other clues?

I checked the clock and calendar, I tried going into videos to make sure they were not running, pulled battery and yes it is coming from the speaker.

My wife had a similar issue with two 9330s. Nothing we did could get rid of the noise. It was a crackling noise, and lasted a split second. We deleted apps, reloaded the OS, even replaced the first device, but could never find the source of the noise.

So, it's definitely not electrical noise or something, but a genuine audio sound of some sort?

If you are not interested in tracking it down but just getting rid if it, I would do a full backup and then a full security wipe (select the option to delete user installed apps). If you still have the sound or noise immediately after the wipe, then it is some sort of hardware issue. If it is gone, then just restore data and do the settings over from scratch.

well it almost sounds like a car..."vroooom" sound and lasts like half a second.
but then again it sounds like a call coming in..I have a ringtone set for my ringer.
