open desktop manager
connect phone
add/remove programs
browse (near the bottom)
click the .alx file
it will then appear in the list of applications in the main window.
click next etc etc
and it will be loaded.

Yes you do need the DM for windows to do this.
TRY Missing Sync. Although you have to pay for their software.
Or if you are not in too much of a hurry thrn wait coz it is said that RIM are set to release a DN for Mac sometime in September.

I'm new to this also. I have Missing Sync and tried to install a game with two files, one a .cod and one an .aix. Missing Sync installed them on the media card. How do I run them or install them so I can see them in the menu?

Thanks!

you need desktop manager.
missing sync is nothing more than a sync program.
you need desktop manager to install a .alx and .cod file.

its as simple as that.

But Missing Sync has an 'install' feature. So Desktop does something different than just move the files to the BB?

yes, it actually installs the applications to the device, not move them to the media card.

Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I thought there was a way to copy both the alx and cod files to our media card and have them install without Desktop Manager. Am I smoking crack?

as far as i know, you can do that with the .jad and .cod files, but not .alx.
