Default Facebook - alerts to Blackberry rather than e-mails

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Folks,
I'm sick of Facebook e-mails clogging up my gmail.
When I get a Facebook alert to my Blackberry, there is a corresponding e-mail in my gmail inbox. I'd like to turn the e-mails off but keep the device alerts on.
When I tried this before, I turned the e-mail alerts off in Facebook's settings, but then I think my Facebook alerts stopped too.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
S.

Set up a filter in Gmail to move those messages to a new label and skip your Gmail inbox.

Hmm, yeah I thought of that actually. I take it there's no way to turn off the e-mails but keep the Blackberry messages?

If not, I'll just do that then.

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to turn off emails but keep the Blackberry notifications - it's basically one and the same. Filtering the messages is the only way I can see to get it done...

That's weird. I get the notification's on my BB but the emails don't come to my BB. They just stay on the online account.

On my Blackberry Bold 9700, when I get a Facebook message, it shows up as being a Facebook message (where I read it in the Facebook application). However, I believe that in my actual Gmail account, the message is automatically deleted so I never actually see it in my Gmail's inbox.

May want to try and remove facebook and re-install the face book app.

the facebook app should take the facebook notification email and change it around to be a facebook notification.

This issue drove me absolutely MAD for about 3 months. I finally figured out the problem. In the BlackBerry e-mail settings area of the e-mail account you have linked to your Facebook, make sure that you have Deleted Items set to wirelessly sync. If it's not, remove your e-mail account from your device, add it again, and ensure that the box is checked is set to wirelssly sync deleted items. If that isn't enough, try sending service books and a hard reset. I deleted the Facebook app and re-installed as well.

I'm 99% sure that this is your issue, and your fix.

Let me know.

See this thread the more detail on my situation:

Facebook app, menu - options
"leave a copy of the emails on server" UNCHECK.
This will ensure that email notifications are deleted after being sent to the BB and intercepted by the FB app.

That too, but even ensuring that box was unchecked didn't solve my issue. The OP should try this first, and then look into the item I mentioned.
