I was puttering around on the Research in Motion website and I saw that the new Bold 9700 will not have 1GB internal memory like the Bold 9000. Was this a typo or is this correct?

It has 256MB internal memory vs 9000 1GB.
But it has 256MB flash over 9000 128MB.

The internal memory of the 9700 is significantly lower than the internal memory of the 9000. But it really doesn't matter when you can have up to 32 gB of potential memory card storage!

The flash memory of the 9700 is twice the amount of flash memory for the 9000. That means you can potentially install twice the amount of applications on the 9700!

Actually, you'd be able to load a lot more than twice the amount of applications, because a good chunk of that flash memory is taken up by the OS. On the 9000, you're usually left with ~30MB of available memory when the OS is installed. With the 9700,8900,9630 you always have over 100MB of free memory available. So, theoretically you'd be able to install over 3 times as many applications.
