The little silver button on the back of my Pearl 8100 that holds the battery cover in place has decided to run away and join the circus. Now my battery back plate won't stay attached. I'd order a replacement battery cover, but this little button is actually a part of the phone and not the cover. Is there anywhere I can order a replacement? Is this a known design issue? My brother has the same problem with his.

This is a tiny piece but is critical to using the phone, it's awful! If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged...

I had that same problem with mine. I used tape to hold the cover down. Then I bought a curve. =P. But if that isn't an option, look on ebay for a broken/display of the pearl. You might be able to get the piece off of the display, but the broken phone for sure

I wonder if you can strip this part from a "dummy" store demo display phone???

I have the same issue.. my back plate lock has broken off too.

I was thinking of just buying one of those silicon rubber covers for it. They cover the back completely.. and go for about $15 at Best Buy.

I was at Fry's and took a look at their demo, they keep the battery cover glued to the phone, probably to prevent anyone from swiping one. If the plate is on the phone, you can't get at the silver button so no go on being devious. But YMMV at another store...

I was able to get a warranty replacement from AT&T when my silver battery door button/latch broke off... I think all I had to pay was shipping and handling.
