pretty self explanatory mac doesn't have desktop manager and rim is still slacking, how do you do it?

You either have to find a Windows box and do it on there or you can run Parallels on your Mac.

I borrow one of my parents' laptops when I am home to do it if I am fortunate enough to be able to do so.

Sad fact of life. Mac DM (from "slacker" RIM) is supposedly going to be out sometime in 2009, though. I believe BBN posted about this if you go back and look.

I'm very familiar with Parallels, and virtualization on Mac OS X.
Just never heard it referred to as a "shell" before.
Coming from a strong Unix background, I guess my definition of a shell is a bit antiquated.
