Default Will Rogers follow and reduce data rates?

Please Login to Remove!

It's no secret that data rates in Canada are very high! Recently Telus, Bell & Rogers all started to offer a $15 BlackBerry add on that gave you unlimited email/pin messaging. Finally something affordable and a great way for more people to add on data to their devices if they didn't already have a data plan. Now apparently the $15 BlackBerry add on is for the Pearl only, I can't comment for Bell and Telus but I know many people on Rogers who have this plan and they're using the 8700, 8800, or an 83xx series BlackBerry.

The downside to the $15 BlackBerry add on is that there is NO data included!! Last week Telus one upped their competition and included data on their $15 add on. Apparently it's unlimited also (I don't know if they have a data cap or not) but hey for 15 bucks having unlimited data and email on a BlackBerry Pearl... that's madd affordable!!

I am curious now if Rogers is going to match that? Any Rogers insiders here that care to comment? I was lurking over at Howard Forums and in the Bell forum there are people who have posted that Bell is rumored to match the Telus offer very soon but in the Rogers section I haven't seen anything.

I'm debating on making the switch to Telus but not sure if I should change service providers if Rogers will respond and drop their data rates. If anyone has some info on forthcoming changes to the data rates could you please post the info? I've contacted Rogers and they have told me that their data rates won't be changing and they can't match Telus. The Best offer they made to me was was 200MB of data for $80 per Month but I would have to renew my term for 3 years and they'd give me true unlimited data for 3 months also if I renewed my term. I opted not to take this offer, I'm still hoping they respond to the Telus offer but if not I will have to swap service providers.

Someone mislead you. Telus web page for $15 plan clearly states it is email only and BlackBerry IM. No data/Internet.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy for my T-Mobile $20/month add on Data Plan. Unlimited email and data.

I have been told by Telus dealers as well as Telus Customer Service that it does include unlimited Data now. There are also many people over at Howard Forums in the Telus section who have posted they have this plan and have included screenshots of their accounts showing it does indeed exist.

Still nothing on Telus web site about unlimited browsing, but if you were promised it I would say- go for it. Don't wait for Rogers.

I'm not waiting for Rogers any longer, I called them today and they're not budging on their data rates at all. I visited a Telus dealership earlier to ask questions and get info on voice plans. The store Manager confirmed to me that there is unlimited data on the $15 plan but it's not posted on the website. She told me that she can even get customer service to document it on my account so if there are data charges they would be credited back and none of her customers who took the $15 add on have received data charges thus far. I'll be porting over when I head back to the Telus dealership after work.

I did port over and the $15 price plan does include data!! I was told it's unlimited but subject to rules of abuse. I've had my account documented that data is unlimited and when I asked if there was a 250MB cap (Since I read about the 250MB cap at another forum) I was told no it's unlimited. Once I get my first bill I'll report back if I had any weird charges or anything.
