Question: Sent Items
Please Login to Remove!
Anyone know how to take off the view for sent items in messages. I have a customer that is asking, and I can't find the option to turn that off. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
Regards,
Bryan

For the umpteenth time...
Open messages.
Goto options, then email settings, then folder redirection.
Uncheck "Sent Items"
Save
Please try the search feature for these types of questions next time. Thanks! ;)

Well I do apologize. Didn't have to be mean about it. I was in a hurry and just had time to post. Sorry for wasting your time. Anyways thanks.

I wasn't being mean. I simply requested to yourself and other users that might read this to please make use of the search function for future questions such as this.
Good luck!

That's odd... on my unit when I go to Messages and then Options I only have "General Options" and "Email Reconciliation" and I did not find "folder redirection" under either menu. Any suggestions?

Just click the scroll wheel on General Options. It will be on the menu.

Here are the only options under "General Options":
Display Time
Display Name
Confirm Delete
Hide Filed Messages
Make PIN Messages Level 1
Auto More
Keep Messages
Nothing about folder redirection.... Now what?

It will be under email settings, not general options. This is on 4.0.0.185 handheld code. Folder redirection will be under the menu on email settings.

Like I stated earlier I only have "General Options" and "Email Reconciliation" when I go to Messages/Options. Guess it is not on mine then as I am running v4.0.0.160 from Nextel. AFAIK they do not yet have that version available...

I go to Options in the Messages sections. I then see "General Options" and "Email Reconciliation" just like IBGregR. There is no "Email Settings" and no "Folder Redirection" anywhere in here.

according to RIM tech support, there is no way. Those sent items are needed to show that the email went out successfully.
Use ALT + I to show only emails your received
Use ALT + O to show sent items, which can then be deleted all at once

Those that don't have the Email Settings, how are you getting your messages, Redirector, BWC? The "Email Settings" option may only be for those on a BES (my guess). You can log into the WebClient and in options elect to not save sent messages. In Desktop Manager, Redirector settings, advanced tab, you can also choose not to have sent messages saved.

For as rude as "bfrye" is you would think he'd at least have the correct answer, but he doesn't. Hey bfrye, if you are so tired of answering the same question, either ignore the repeated question or stop posting altogether. geeze.
IMO, RIM has some serious work to do on their software. I have BBv4 and BESv4 and am not able to get Sent Items from the desktop to not show in the BB messages. This happens on 7230 and 7290.
I have tried changing several settings, in both the BB and desktopman, to no avail. I go into the desktop man, advanced settings, uncheck the sent folder, and it STILL sends sent items to the BB.
I'll be calling RIM on this and will post their answer.

FWIW, we have 12 7290's (11 Cingular running 4.0.0.219, 1 T-Mobile running 4.0.0.19) on our BES 4.0 server (Domino) and all 12 have the "Folder Redirection" option under Messages > Options > Email Settings. Furthermore, we've TURNED OFF reconciliation of the SENT FOLDER on all 12 of them -- users hate it when it's on!
The only time I've seen Email Settings and Email Reconciliation NOT present on a 4.0 unit using BES is when an Enterprise Activation wasn't done on them. (i.e. when we upgrade our old units, we back it up, upgrade the BlackBerry, restore, and even though all of the data was restored, we still do an Enterprise Activation -- because if we don't, we don't get the Email Settings or Email Reconciliation options)

FWIW, bfrye's answer is 100% correct for the question "How do I stop emails sent from my desktop from redirecting to my handheld?".

I can't wait to hear what RIM's solution is on this - I too have the problem that I cannot prevent desktop sent items being delivered to my 7100, with all software up to BBv4 and BESv4. Although it doesn't take up that much space as it's the subject only, it's a total waste of bandwidth as I don't need them on my Blackberry.

The problem is that a lot of people are also asking "How do I stop email sent from the handheld from showing up in the messages list?". AFAIK, this isn't possible unless you consider Alt+I to be a solution.

I had this issue on my BB 7100v where sent items from Desktop were appearing on my BB... Quite annoying to say the least as my inbox was looking like a mess!!!!
I changed a settings in the Redirector Settings of Desktop Manager, re-synched and now any messages i send from Outlook do not appear on my BB device.
In Redirector Settings, click Advanced, under Folder Redirection, highlight Selected Folders, click Choose Folders and untick the Sent Items folder
Then Re-sycn the device
