Default pool.bin file created and mdbdata folder grown by 3GB

Please Login to Remove!

Over the weekend my backup grew by 3GB and it turned out to be the mdbdata folder in exchsrvr.
This caused the the Information Store to close down.
At the same time a pool.bin file was created on the BES server desktop, which apparently happens when the MDS services grow excessively.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

The file was definitely only created the other day.
I've opened the server configuration tool many times before, however, through the start menu, not through a shortcut on the desktop, and I've never seen this file before.

So whenever you open the server configuration does it amend the "modified date" of the file or does it just change the "accessed date"?
Do you normally delete the file?

I spoke to someone at T-Mobile who's our carrier and he told me that it was created because the MDS services had grown excessively and then he gave me a number to their Tech support but they couldn't help me.
Is there any way I can check that these have actually grown?

Very strange.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

i've never actually looked, to be honest. i had only noticed it being created after closing the server configuration tool. the one on there was only 512KB and last modified in mid-June (created in early-May).

I think I noticed mine aswell after having one of the applications open, can't remember which one though, so maybe it's just generated when that application is opened?!

It would make sense if this was related to the files on the Exchange server files growing so huge, but having looked into this, it looks like this could have something to do with our virus scanner aswell?

hmmm....

Everything seems to be back to normal now.
The backup is back to its normal size and Exchange abd BES are running as it's meant to without any error messages.
Very very weird!

I actually have the pool.bin file created on my desktop when I run the BB Device Manager (not the Desktop Manager) I use the Device Manager when I use my bb as a modem for my laptop. It only started a couple of days ago. I am not on a BES, don't know what you are talking about with MDS, no exchange servers, I have used the phone as a modem before and I have never seen this file....is there something I can do to stop this? Any ideas?
