Hi all. I live in jamaica n have a t-mobile 9780 that's only giving me edge speed on a 3g network. I know its compatable because that carrier sells the 9700. I checked my settings n its on 3g/2g. Can anyone help me?

What is the branding on the BlackBerry. There are two different 3G radio networks and they are not compatible. If (and this is a guess) your BlackBerry is from T-Mobile US or Wind (Canada) then it won't be compatible with Digicel and all you will get is EDGE.

Its from T-Mobile us. Claro is also in jamaica and that's a 3g network. When I use the claro sim I am still only getting edge signal. Do u think I should try a wipe and reload a different carrier software?

T-Mobile US uses different 3G frequencies than most other carriers.
That's why you aren't getting 3G. It is a different radio. Wipe/reload will not do anything. It is different hardware. The T-Mobile 9780 will only run on EDGE.
