Please help me out cos my Bold2 has never displayed 3G but displays edge instead and I have done the necessary settings.

What wireless provider is branded on the device?

None sir. No wireless provider brand. But I am in Nigeria and I presently use one of our local service providers.

Without any information, we can only guess at the reason.

My guess... you have a 9700 which doesn't support the 3G bands that your wireless provider uses.

hi i dont know to much about blackberrys but my daughter had her blackberry that could nat get g3 1st make sure you have a g3 sim and 2nd she had the back case changed by some idiot who pushed a screw driver on the back of the phone. so if you look at the back there is a small hole that looks as if its a screw but its not its the 3g board if this is damaged you can only get basic conection no 3g and still only in good reception areas easy not to notice, hope this may help and hope its not happened to you

The blackberry 9700 has 2 versions for 3G:

1. HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
2. HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100

I think the first one is for ATT and the 2nd one is for Tmobile, I do have the Tmobile version and my carrier does have 3G but on only for 850/1900 so I have the same problem as you, only shows EDGE not 3G.

Bad news for you buddy, no matter what you do you cannot change it to 3G.

hi i have a bold 2 9700 and mine is doing the same i cant get 3g it from orange but its unlock and i live in barbados so its using lime

hi all, i have same problem. 3g signal never appear even i have set to 3g only. before i have no problem with this 3g signal. i thougt that the carrier(telkomsel) has problem with their 3g network but when i checked to my friend's bb that using same carrier the 3g network is fine. so i assume the problem is in my bb 9700. does any one can help me?

Are you in an area where your carrier has 3G coverage?
