Default Update: Using Blackberry with an IPHONE data plan

Please Login to Remove!

I got my iphone and the data plan which removes the BIS plan from my account.

I popped in the sim to my 8310 (with the iphone data plan provisioned, not BIS)

and I get lower case edge, obviously no connection to BIS, however, I do get full data using the att browser, Telenav works perfectly (through tcp), beyond411 works great (through tcp)........

Just thought I would share that with ya...

its the same with any data plan on ATT. You do not get push email and many of the other functionalities of the device, but you do get internet

Just as one more data point.... I pulled the SIM out of my 8820 here in Paris and put it into my 8525....... 3G coverage and data... which means... I can use Internet Sharing on the 8525 for tethering. :D (I have an international data plan) Not that I would use it for long term data. But nice to have in that occasional case I need the laptop to connect for a quick transfer of a file the BB can't do.

But unfortunately it doesn't work with the iPhone. My dad recently bought one, so I finally had one I could play with. I took the SIM out of my Curve and put i t in the BB. Nothing. No internet. No phone.

So while you can go FROM the iPhone to a BB and get phone and some data, it doesn't do me a lot of good as I want the BB as the primary device and would like an iPhone for sometimes use.

There have been reports of people having success of doing that, but nothing confirmed that I have seen.

Junge... dumb question here (you may have done this)... have you deleted the browser service book in your Service Books, will it come back, or is a leftover from when you did have a BB Data Plan?

I did not delete the service books as I was scared they would not come back and that might have an impact on the usability. However, thinking about it now, I can always backup and restore, or better yet, my wife has a bb plan and I can
pop her sim in to get the service books back. The second I activated my iphone , my BIS account was "suspended by the system administrator" as it said on the ATT bis website when I tried to log in, as activating the iphone automatically removes the BIS plan from your acct. At least they got that right.

I'm curious now to see what happens when I delete the service books and then pop the iphone sim in. I'll report back
