Hello.

I'm new here.
I got a BB 8100 Pearl from my company.
I'd like to install a GPS software (AmazeGPS) and some new themes on it.

In order to do so I downloaded and installed Desktop Manager 5.0.
Then I chose "Install new application" and selected the *.alx file that comes along with the *.cod files of the themes and with AmazeGPS.

What happens is:
1) if I select the AmazeGPS ALX file I get an "Irreversible error in installation procedure, please try again"

2) the themes files seem to get through and, although they appear as installed in the Desktop Manager, when I go look for them in the Options->Theme menu on my BB, they don't show up

I cannot figure out how to fix that.

Any advice?

Are you connected to the companys BES?
Its possible they are blocking applications/themes.

I do not believe the 8100 has GPS built in so in order to use GPA and map applications, you will need a GPS puck to receive the signals.

Also, the Pearl has limited internal memory so your install of the map application and themes might be bumping against that internal limit. In addition, you cannot install applications to the SD card, only music, ringtones and photos.

As mentioned above, if this is a BB on the corporate BES, then the company IT policy might also be preventing 3rd party software installation. You will need to talk to the BES Admin if you are indeed on the BES.

As for themes, they are device specific. Are the ones you downloaded and installed specifically for the 8100?
