Default Torch 9800 swipe to hide KB not working anymore?

Please Login to Remove!

In the last week or so, I've noticed that I can no longer seem to hide the virtual keyboard on my BB Torch by swiping it downward.

Instead, it now registers a keypress for whatever the last key my finger swiped across, which is usually the spacebar.

I find this HIGHLY annoying, as I now have to open the BB menu and select "Hide Keyboard" to get the damned thing off my screen.

Anyone have any ideas what changed? I have not updated the BB OS, nor altered any config settings that I can think of.

Have you tried pulling the battery?

Pull the battery out without turning the BB off. Leave the battery out for 30 seconds then put back in and turn on.

Thanks, but I generally prefer to locate a more...elegant...solution to issues that I experience before resorting to a brute force approach.

As a guy with a programming background, the thought of yanking any power source brings to mind all the crappy coders out there who don't provide for error and exception handling and I just cringe.

A Battery Pull is a recommended resolution to many BB problems. It is actually the first step to follow with almost any issue.

Ugh. Frustratingly, the battery pull seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks for the tip, fellas.

It's just aggravating to me not knowing what specifically caused the problem, what triggered it in the first place, nor what actually got "fixed."

You shouldn't let the fact you don't know the specific cause of a problem like this annoy you. More than likely it was a blip that was easily fixed using a Battery Pull. It restarts the OS and clears the memory out, essentially making it a Hard Reset.
