Default Curve 8520 e-mails problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Have the Curve 8520 as of Friday, 6 May.
Initial setup went flawless. Both Wi-Fi and EDGE worked perfectly.
Two e-mail accounts: GMAIL and a corporate one (no BES support)

As of 7 May emails are not reconciled regarldess of connection.
Emails cannot be sent ("service blocked"), but mainly E-mail Settings does not start due to error
"Your device had a problem connecting to the server"

At the same time, Internet is fine with both, Edge and Wi-Fi.
Im Talk+ works as well.

Would appreciate any help! Have read similar threads, but the only solution found (power off + sim away, also registering host route table) does not help here.
T-Mobile plan must be with BB support because I received an e-mail from T-mobile with congratulations on activating a BB.

Details:

Curve 8520 (Edge, Wi-Fi)
v5.0.0.681 (Bundle 1168 PLatform 5.2.0.67)
WLAN Version: 3.0.0.113
BlackBerry Internet Service -> Connection: Wi-Fi
BlackBerry Enterprise Server -> Connection: Wi-Fi

Keep in mind that if you are using BIS, BIS only reconciles at the server level. Once email hits the PC email client, BIS can't touch it.

Log into your BIS account and resend the service books. Then .....

With the device on, remove the battery for 30 seconds then replace and let the device reboot.

If that doesn't work, call you carrier and have them confirm that a BB data plan has been properly activated on your account.

If after a couple hours it still doesn't work, have them delete and re-add the BB data plan.

Both gmail and the company email fail, or just the company email?

And do you have BES service or not? You indicated no initially, but you details seem to say yes.

Hey, thanks for prompt response.

Let me respond

1) the emails have not been checked for 2 days - no reconciliation nevertheless
2) I'm new to the BlackBerry world. What means "login to BIS account"? How? Where? What are those "books"?
3) Will do further steps after I understand what to do in poin (2)

Still, maybe it's some settings? Why would email settings not start?

Many thanks in advance

No, I don't. My coprporate mail is the Exchange Server, nos BES support.
How do you see that "yes"? Maybe, again, I changed some setting acidentally?

THanks

I'm going to yield to Dubdub. But see How do I resend my service books? - BlackBerryFAQ.

Hey guys,

Some update. I've just called T-Mobile and they explained the origins of the problem:

RIM activates the service right after device registration, but after couple of days - if there was no BB service activated for the peer (mobile nr.), - they kick them off the platform. This seem to have happened to me.

Now the issue has to be sorted with my company, probably some mess occured (take only the "welcome to BB service" message from T-Mobile).

I'll keep you updated.

Thanks so far for your support

Interesting. I don't completely understand, but curious. Post an update when you can.

Hi guys,

OK, the problem has now been resolved.
The reason was no BB service activated for my telephone number. Our lousy secretary could not manage to raise a handset and dictate my number to T-Mobile.

Why was it working for 1 day after registration? I don't know if it's a Mobile Operator-specific bug, but seems that a number of people experience it.

The thing is that it's not Mobile Operator, who controls the BIS service - RIM sends requests to Mobile Operators databases once in two days (according to T-Mobile expert) and if your PIN/IMEI (linked to a sim card during host route table registration procedure) is not in the database of local provider, they (RIM) exclude you from the BIS platform.

That was what happened to me.

Now I'm enjoying the service.

Having read several posts here, I guess quite a number of people experience the same problem (confusion RE BB data plan/service).

Thanks for your support

Yakor
