I have a bunch of contacts in my address book. There is one contact that I cannot seem to delete. When I try deleting it, nothing happens. When I try editing it, and click save, I get an error message "Contact Updated Externally, Changes will be lost and the viewer closed". Originally, I had a duplicate entry for this contact, and was able to delete one of them. Now, I can't seem to get rid of this one. Any ideas? Thanks
I'm currently having the same problem. I did a battery pull (twice!), and nothing. I deleted the entry form the SIM card as well.
The contact was sent to me by BB Messenger, and when I opened it in my address book, I realized the e-mail address was wrong. When I tried to edit it, I got the same error message as previously posted by hbk. And I cannot delete the entry either.
Any other thoughts/ideas?
I took the phone back to the carrier, they looked at it and just replaced it with a new bold 9700. I'm in Canada, and the policy here for carriers is one month exchange. Thanks for the replies though guys
Now that the Bold 2 has made it to the UK it would appear the 'unable to delete contact' issue described above is still happening. I sent a load of contacts from my bold to my bold 2 at first they all seemed to work. After further updates through the desktop manager and several soft/hard resets i am left with 4 contacts (which appear to be entirely random) which I cannot delete. As above, if I go into edit a contact and then save i get 'Contact Updated Externally, Changes will be lost and the viewer closed.'
Do we have a solution firstly to delete the four contacts that remain and secondly an explanation as to why all of my other contacts were deleted without any action/confirmation from me?
I could be wrong, but seems to me that the way you are transferring your contacts may have caused some unusual issue and the DM has removed them all (but 4). As I asked in YOUR thread; are those contacts on your SIM?
If you still have a good copy of your contacts, you might want to try wiping the BB using BBSAK (Blackberry Swiss Army Knife) and reinstall the OS. After that, use Outlook and sync your contacts ...... Simple and works just fine.
