Default 8800 Launch Event - NY & SF

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my invite to, and registered for, the NY launch event on 2/20. I had a choice between the NY and SF event (on 2/22).

I attended the 8700 event last year with Lance Armstrong and this year's celeb it Tiki Barbar.

Not sure what's in store however hoping that they'll provide complementary units to all the attendees like they did last year. It sounds like they are going to showcase products from key software channel partners and have the Cingular and RIM execs there to answer questions and build interest in the new units and capabilities.

Anyone else get their invite or have further details?

That's right but I will note they seem to have their act together on this launch with product promised into the channels the day after the NYC event, so the question is will units be at the event or come later.

Default ...an extraordinary evening event on February 20th.

I received my invite via email at 1PM ET. . . . registered for NY event and confirmation email received within minutes. . ..

Here's the context of the email invite:

You are invited to join Research in Motion® and Cingular, now the new AT&T, as we reveal new solutions for enterprise productivity and extend the service, expertise and applications that you have come to expect from us.

Mark February 20, 2007 on your calendar for this exclusive event, hosted by Research In Motion’s President, Co-CEO and Founder Mike Lazaridis and Kent Mathy, President of Cingular’s Business Markets Group, and meet our special celebrity guest speaker, former New York Giants star Tiki Barber.

Register now and attend to receive a special thank you gift from BlackBerry and Cingular.

...... I wonder what the special thank you gift will be?

You know, tell them you forgot your invitation at home, but that the 450 users you take care of at work will be very unhappy if you are not able to relay the information from the event that you're hoping to communicate to them.

Then again, the event is probably not worth crashing. Not like a wedding or party where you can get free booze and food.

The security is actually tight, but there is free booze and food. In fact the BLUE martini's were quite nice - and that is the color of RIM and ATT.

I don't know about that. Last year, at the 8700 event, there was plenty of free booze and free food (and free blackberrys!)

As soon as you use that lame excuse, you'll be escorted out the door . . . registration required online, and they do require registration code to submit your info. . .

As far as food and drinks . . . well those of you who attended know that there's plenty to go around... and with a 3-hour open bar, better get a designated driver or car service available to take you home....

Gives me something to look forward to after work next thurs. I doubt they will give them away free this year because there were so many problems last year. They promised the people at the rollout they would be the new kid on the block but the stores got the 8700 before we did. Hopefully if they do this year they will have them onsite. But again if they do it's free so can't complain. I still haven't read the Lance Armstrong book.

Funny that they only cater to the East and West....like the North, Midwest, and Dirty South don't pump MAJOR cash into their wallets.....

Default Largest markets.

True but when you see how many people in SF and silicon valley use Blackberrys you will be shocked. I probably see about 50 in use everyday just riding the muni to work.

It is only for compnays. You might want to have your compnay check with your cingular/att rep.

With as many company headquarters there are in Austin, you would think we *might* qualify for one of those launch events. :p

...and a portion of MY users are in Cali!
