Default Would you pay full price?

I'm bummed. I've been a Treo user since the Treo 600 came out. I was getting displeased early in the year until they released the 755p. I thought at the time that if I upgraded to it, I would then have the latest and the greatest. Come to find out that it really wasn't any different. In fact, There were a few of my programs that just wouldn't run like they did on the older hardware and no developers wanted to take the time to program for a dieing breed. So here I am, not even a year into my Verizon contract and stuck with a phone that is no longer sold and very loosely supported. The local store rep said I could call customer care and they've been making exceptions to the 2 year rule. But alas, not in my case since I'm barely 10 months into the contract. They said I may be eligible sometime next spring.

So my question is, how many of you paid full price for the phone? Or how many of you if you were in my shoes, would pay full price? I just can't see myself waiting that long.

No, I wouldn't pay full price for it.. Although through my Verizon rep we get a great discount w/o having to extend the contract.. My Wife and I bought ours for 200 w/ rebate then she discounted them both another 15%..

We've been with Verizon forever because the service works. So we've never had a need to build a relationship with any one rep. We're very "easy" on our equipment and to my knowledge, have never had to go back into a store for any type of service. But only having 2 phones and a PC card I guess means we don't spend enough with them monthly to garner anything special.

I'm happy with my Storm, but I wouldn't have paid full retail price for it. That's not any slam at the Storm; I wouldn't pay Verizon's "retail price" for any phone.

If I were in your shoes, I'd think about adding a second line for $10/mo. Better than dropping an extra $300 (or so...I'm guessing) on the phone. Even if the line sits for the next year, that's $120 as compared to the $300

I paid full price coming from a curve. I love this phone. Definitely consider it.

Same here.. We have been with them before they were Verizon. The Gal who we go through was just a sales rep then and now she is Director of Nat'l Government accounts.. We have never once stepped foot into a store. We get new phones on average around every 6-8 months.. Our Storms will be here today, ordered them 1.5 weeks ago..

Default The Way I Paid

I was ready to pay full price which is 500 but i figured out that i could open a new line for 10 dollars per month and have it for 2 years. That would cost 10x24=240. Then I could get the phone at the promotional price of 200 so I ended up paying 440 rather than 500 and i could pay 240 of it over 2 years. I would have gladly paid 500 for it because im in love with this phone!

My phone is on my company's account so adding another line just because I'm drooling over the latest and greatest probably wont fly. However, my wife's phone is on Verizon also. I wonder if I could get the Storm with an extra line on her account and then have Verizon swap the hardware between 2 different numbers/accounts. Anybody have experience with this?

I am pretty sure you can do this. It would be just like if you lost you company phone and bought a new 1 on ebay orsomething to replace it. Then your wife would be stuck with 2 phones.

To Beagle -- As long as you have an account "eligible for a discount" you can add it to another line.

Verizon calls it a "buddy upgrade" (I call it a "bait and switch").

If you negotiate with a rep you should be able to get a good deal...

I think I will try to call tomorrow and see if they'll deal based upon my PC card being eligible last July. I don't see any reason why we would dump the card for something better. We don't use the card except when traveling and then only if the hotel doesn't have access. I've pulled over to the side of the road a few times to do some tech support work. Perfect for occasional usage.

So here's hoping they see things the way I see them! How fast are people getting online orders these days?

If one were to lose their phone and go to a Verizon store and tell them they have lost their phone, they would sell that person a storm for the 1 year price of $319.99.

When Apple released the iPhone, no one had a problem with paying $500 for one.

I could barely swallow paying $150 for it. I thought it was crap and returned it. I am going ATT for a bold. I just couldn't get past the keyboard.
