Question BES + PST Files.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there!

I've been searching (Google) for a while but haven't found an answer for my question. So I decided to post here.

The thing is: The top blackberry user of the company exceeds his mailbox size limit constantly. He never uses his laptop. He is forced to delete messages when he is traveling with his blackberry to free some space on the mailbox.
I wonder if there's a way to use a pst file with the blackberry device. It would be very useful in this case.

Best regards,
Rodrigo Faria

PST are not accessable via BES.

Get a bigger hard drive for your IS.

Or override his limit - I mean they have that feature in exchange for this very reason.

The user already reached the maximum of the mailbox which is 400MB.

Any ideas how to make this work?

400MB is not a hard coded limit. You (or your Exchange admin) can alter this for this specific user, or globally if they choose.

To be honest... 400MB is quite small these days.

That's a global policy. I've tried to change it but never succeeded.

Even with a global policy, use the Exchange manager snap-ins for Active Directory Users and Comps to set your own limits. We have the same restrictions on policy, but frequently have to override. After installing adminpak.msi, run the Exchange install, but only select the System Manager option. You should have Exchange tabs available in ADUC for each user. There is a "limits" button in there.

Just go to that Exchange user and set the limit to 10GB and the user will be happy for a while. Be aware that Exchange can take up to 2 hours until the new quota becomes effective (or you restart Exchange services).

to answer the original question, the answer is no. I bb can't use a pst in any way and in all honesty, if you increase the quota to whatever... the user will still have the prob when they hit the new limit... Tell the guy to behave and log into his laptop every so often and do a cleanup...
