Default Best BES backup system?

Please Login to Remove!

Dear All,
We have one BES 4.1 server that has the database on the same server. I need to create a backup instance. I searched the net and found that people are talking about creating another machine with same IP and let the blackberry service be down until needed! What is the best backup practice being implemented? is there a way to have a blackberry instance as a backup that goes up automatically when the main machine goes down? what about the users accounts. Shall i create them on the second server also?

thanks

Cheap way out is do a knife edge cutover and keep one machine with BES services offline.

It is a manual failover though.

hi,
thanks a million for all the suggested solutions. Just wondering how the upgrade to version 5.0 will help in the backup issue?

thanks

Well, you're not really looking for a backup solution. By your original description, you're looking for high-availability (HA).
BES 5 has native HA built into it.

Again, you're using incorrect terminology and that can easily confuse the responses to your questions.
It's not a backup instance you're looking for. Backup is not the same as High Availability.
You're looking for a failover/standby instance.
