Default Moving from BIS to BES?

Please Login to Remove!

I have had my personal Blackberry (8900, v5.0.0.348) on BIS with O2 in the UK. I want to move to a BES service so that my contacts, calendar & tasks get wirelessly sync'd. I've signed up to Link2Exchange. However, I can't activate my Blackberry.

I do a security wipe on my Blackberry and as long as the Mobile Network & WiFi are kept off, I can see the Enterprise Activation option under Advanced Options. (However, if I turn on connectivity, that option quickly disappears).
When I enter the activation ID & password that Link2Exhange gave me it fails (it says its activating, but never gets any further). I can see the Blackberry activation email going from my reply-to email account (which forwards to the Link2Exchange address).

I'm guessing that's failing, because my Blackberry is re-registering with the BIS server? I've tried to remove my Blackberry PIN from my BIS account - but it will only let me do this if I give it a new valid PIN.

Can anyone advise what I need to do? Should I call O2 and get the BIS account deleted? Or is it something else causing the issue?

You need to subscribe to a BES data plan through O2. It's typically more expensive than the BIS plan.
My guess is you haven't switched your plan yet.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I had previously called o2 to say I was moving to BES, and they said it would work fine and they didn't need to change anything. But then again the guy I was talking to didn't fill me with confidence.

Will call them now and ask about switching to BES again.

You will have one more issue. It depends if you are on a "personal" price plan or a "business" price plan. Typically, O2 does not even move you to a BES package if you are on a "personal" price plan and can be a big pain to deal with...
