If you uninstalled DM 4.7 and reinstalled 4.6, did you reinstall the OS to the computer? Reinstall the OS and delete the vendor.xml again. If that still doesn't work then do a search of your computer for vendor.xml and be sure to use advanced search options so you can search hidden files/folders.

I get the below error message when I try to install this.
Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I am given 3 options on this error.
Abort - cancels the installation
Retry - just brings the same error message back up - repeatedly
Ignore - this brings up another error - Error 2350.FDI server error
I am going ot try re-downloading the file from the blackberry site.
In the meantime, does anybody have any ideas on this?

My Bold from the store setting had a very old version to my surprise, and therefore, I wanted to give it a try to upgrade the software after seeing this thread.
Download site: ***na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
I chose Singapore where I bought the Bold. I have upgraded my Blackberry Desktop program to the latest 4.7 version first, and then, downloaded the latest platform software (9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel331_PL4.0.0.172_A4.6.0. 190_Singtel.exe) from the Blackberry website. They had an East Asia version that supports all Far Eastern languages like Chinese, Korean and Japanese. The installation was flawless and the phone was ready for use in about 30 minutes.
So far, not a single problem mentioned by some of the posts here and the battery life seems to be much longer. After overnight of standby followed by a full day of usage from 8 am to 11 pm (some phone calls, some listening to music and watching videos, light amount of web browsing, keeping the WiFi turned off when not using, and the screen brightness turned down to 10%- still bright enough to me, the Auto Dim turned off, no Bluetooth) I still have 55% remaining at this time.
Since I didn't have any noticeable problem even before the upgrade, I don't really see much difference before and after other than the seemingly improved battery life.
I don't see much remarkable difference in the browser speed that others have mentioned.
It would be nice to have a confirmed list of improvements in the first post of this thread.
In fact, it would be nice to see the release notes from the Blackberry site for all versions!

alright then - this OS is a no go for me. I downgraded my DM to 4.6 and tried. the OS install worked. But my screen looks totally archaic - if I may use that word.
the screen is completely white with all my icons really small and basic. I have 1 theme to choose from, but I cant seem to select it.
everything else is fine though.
I hope that this is a problem with the OS itself and not my handset. I am going to ty downgrading my OS tonight.
Is this the same as upgrading? or do I have to do something else?

upgrading an unlocked device
my first upgrade ever,
i have a 4.6.0.92 firmware. and the device is unlocked ( bought it like that, so i dont have any "unlock key" or any kind )
i have hebrew on it ( not sure its native in the firmware )
how can i be sure that the device remains unlocked after the upgrade
how can i be sure that i will have hebrew support ( anyone can check it ? )
does the upgrade keep the installed software ? ( i.e. documents-to-go )
please advise guys
Barry.

I am also in the same boat as datboi305, I have never downloaded any os's via bbf.com outside of whatever providers offer. But since I am on TMo and bought a unlocked Rogers with v4.6.0.162 (Platform 4.0.0.155) and have been having random reboot and slow issues, I want to upgrade and want to ensure that outside of my device backup before os replacement, that all works well.
So if there are any others on TMo running this newer bold os, please advise. Thanks friends!!! DBB

Great stuff! Luv the BBForums.
Installed .190 (had original AT&T os). No problems. Just had to reactive on BES and all is good. About 3M more memory. Thumbnails all display (but they are on a media card). Didn't miss a beat. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to make this easy on the rest of us.

It didn't on the beta version so I downgraded to .185. Does it work on the released version? Thanks.

Here is another elementary question.....
If I upgrade to this OS, am I going to have to re-install all of my 3rd party apps etc. and/or re-activate with my BES host?

Unless the install errors during the process all your 3rd parties will be backed up. However, you'll have to reenter any unlock/registration codes you have for them.
Yes, you have to reactivate on the BES.

I second this. I really appreciate these "stickys" for latest OS, and the effort that BB forums users put in to making these easily available for all of us. The change log type list that SingSong is talking about would make these threads even that much better.

Damn, sorry to hear you having these issues. This is clearly a problem with the upgrade process. Many people are running .190 just fine. There may be a conflict with an application you have installed? If I were you, I would wipe it clean and then do the upgrade. 190 has been confirmed by many users on this site to be stable.

Does this come with the broadcast feature in the BB messenger? I had it on .167 but it was gone with I installed .185.
How's the cam quality on this version? I noticed .185's quality was pretty grainy.

Serched a lot, but I have an issue with Blackberry messenger. I cannot get the app to load/show. I can get messages, they show up in the inbox, I can view and reply. So its running, I just cant get the application to show up so I can add new friends and view all the friends I have. Tryed the alt+back to cycle to it, pulled battery a lot, re-pushed service books, preformed a EA again. About to wipe and reload the OS. Odd huh?

I like .190 so far no issues.
I just wish the Multilingual included more Asian countries instead of keeping the features to the European languages :->

the upgrade process was fairly straightforward. nothing to report there. have upgraded the OS on many other occasions, and never had an issue.
my handset is a beta handset (i get the message - property of RIM, not for ale or lease). so maybe something to do with that?
