Pardon me for being ignorant but how did you get your messages and calendar to show up on the screen above the icons?

Mine was a tad bit loose as well. I added three pieces of electrical tap to the back of the phone (not the cover, but next to the battery). It was just enough to tighten the fit.

Count me among those who forgot to transfer the mesh screen for the speaker. I mangled mine trying to get the original out of the stock bezel. Has anyone figured out what to use to make a new one? We need a fine mesh nylon screen material. If there's a source for it, please do share!

Not cool. The feedback without the screen on the top sucks. Put someone on speaker, place the phone on a desk, and pass your hand in front of the hole. A lot of high pitch squeaking that hurts.

Any ideas for the screen? I've not tried to pull mine out of the silver bezel, as it looks (and sounds from others) that it will not come out in one piece.

One layer, on three side of the battery slot (to the left, right, and bottom).

maybe some pantyhose? I'll try that if I am not able to get the top mesh off. (probably will be the case..)

i got the mesh off. using a pin, you can loosen the edges and get it off in one piece. i moved it to the black bezel. now the feedback is worse. it's on all the time. are we missing something?

UPDATE - I did the top mesh, but not the mic mesh. Feedback sucks. Let's try one more time and hopefully the third is the charm.

UPDATE UPDATE - Don't forget the mesh. I don't know if you need bottom and top, but:
none = some feedback
just the top = LOTS-O-FEEDBACK
both = no feedback

I was not able to take off the top mesh successfully only the bottom one. I don't hear any feedback. I also saw someone post that the meshes are there to keep dust out, not for resolving audio related issues. Needless to say, I am confused.

It's like when a musician holds his guitar up to the microphone and you hear a screeching sound over the amps. Acoustical feedback.

I was having this problem after replacing my screen with some black mesh ribbon from Michael's Craft Store. The ribbon is designed for scrap-booking but looks like the mesh screen that came on my Bold so I figured I'd give it a shot. It's about the 5th or 6th time I've taken my Bold apart so it's really no big deal for me anymore.

Even after installing my makeshift screen with some gooey glue I had the same feedback problem. But last night it seemed to heal itself. Maybe an hour after the "procedure" it stopped squawking at me when activating the speaker phone feature, and this morning its still feedback-free! Perhaps it just needed for the glue to dry as the liquid component may have been causing the squawking or perhaps just negating the screen's effect. Whatever the case, it's back to normal now!
