When will this happen??? I'm dying to get the video camera but I'm scared I'll fry my SIM card and I want UMA to work on my phone. Does anybody know when T-Mobile will release the upgrade???

They may not. Not every carrier releases the latest OS. My wife has the 4.5 on her Tmo 8320. The SIM card is fine and she has no issues.

Specific carrier releases mean nothing. Its entirely possible that the .37 release will not fry any more SIM cards because it is official now. On the other hand, it might. If you fry your SIM you can just get the carrier to replace it.

the o.s. that you use doesn't have to be carrier specific.

What do I have to do so that I can use the OS from vodafone.de on my AT&T branded device?

Considering that Tmobile is still only on 4.2.4.180, I'd say it might be a while until they move to a different version. I think they have enough regular issues with .180 without having 2 different OS to support. That alone is good reason for them not to release it. Their customer service has enough trouble keeping up with all the different phone models.

4.5.0.37 is the only one that had reported SIM issues so far. The other betas and now the released 4.5.0.52 don't seem to have a SIM issues, but none is bug free. However, the 4.2 series had issues as well.

I have fried my sim with .37, but all the other releases are and were fine. But thats still no guarantee. You will be happy with .52, alot of people are.

And same here. 4.5.0.52 seems to be blisfully free of the T-mo sim-frying feature UMA works fine, too. Upgrade with no fear... Or at least very little fear ;)

I've been using .52 for 2 weeks now on my 8320 on Tmo. Traveled the world to areas where I used UMA exclusively during those 2 weeks. Back in USA now, and am using a mixture of UMA and GSM/EDGE. No major problems to report. Occasional bug, but that is par for the course. Overall, a welcome update.
