What version of Vlingo did you install? I went to their site, and they suggested trying the 4.7 version on OS 5.x.x.x - that started to work in the setup wizard, but then it spontaneously rebooted my 8900 before it finished.

I tried installing the Tour version on the 8900, but that just froze when I ran it.

You found one that really works? All functions? I'd love to try it -- please post details re: version you installed for 5.0.0.238 on the 8900...

thanks!
3.1.0.32196b4.7

That is the latest OS 4.7 build off of the vlingo mobile site. I had problems installing the version from appworld. Uninstall your current version then install from www.vlingo.com.

EDIT: I guess I'm a little slow. Glad you guys got it working.

Default OS 5.0.0.238 FULL OF BUGS highly unstable

this version is very disappointing for all users as its highly unstable .238 compared to .190. The .190 is far more better in terms of compatibility with other applications and overall usage. The only update i could see in this build .238 as follows:

1. Calculator bug fixed which was there in earlier builds so it doesnt freezes if u keep pressing several time one digit or several tap-tap-tap on and on.
2. Media Player auto next song jump was fixed. But when you use headset the bug is still there as the next song will not have any sound on ending of the first one.
3. Booting is fast compared to other builds but thats not a big deal if you interface is s****ed up.
4. There are no major fixes in this build and its very disappointing for the 5.0 fans.

I am going back to install .190 which works like a charm.

Enjoying testing...\\\\\

Running .238 since Wednesday, and it has been great for me so far.

Only issues I have found are these:

1) Tried to download Opera Mini from their site, and I am assuming it recognizes the OS version as not being supported and does not give a download link. I have yet to try to reinstall it through DM, but I thought it was interesting that I could not download it.

2) This morning, within 2 hours of removal from my charging pod (which works fine with this version for me), my battery had dropped to 70% with minimal use. Viewed about 10 to 15 emails/PINs and 3 phone calls for all of 10 minutes. Not enough use to drop my battery that far that quickly. I did a battery pull and it still showed 70%, however in the 2 hours since that time, I have gone through about the same number of e-mail/PIN messages yet the battery is showing 65%. Not too bad, but still lower than it should be.

Other than that the OS has been very fast for me.

Default No major problems yet

I've been running .238 on my 8900 since Tuesday, with no serious problems yet. I get occasional reboots in the browser. In 4.6.1.250 these were only caused by scrolling in a web page repeatedly when zoomed. In 5.0.0.238 it's harder to pinpoint. But it's not happening a lot, so I can live with it so far.

There are a couple of minor glitches in JiveTalk that I didn't see in any 4.6 version. One is that when I start typing something, I don't see the text in the box until the second letter is keyed. Also, I have the JiveTalk LED alert set to purple. It continues to flash even after I've shut down JiveTalk; until an email or SMS comes to turn it red.

Using the disconnect key to hop out of an application and leave it running is laggy; i.e., the trackball is laggy for a bit after this operation.

Battery life is fine; about as good as it was in 4.6.1.250.

Unfortunately, "Call Roommate Mobile" type commands fail. Even after training for my voice using the wizard in the Options. Kind of shitty since I sometimes do use VAD in the car. Ah well, it's nothing new to see things get broken in newer beta releases. As long as it's all fixed by final release, I'm happy =)
Yup -- exactly what I did, with similar results. Some commands work, but voice recognition nowhere near as good as it was with 4.6.1.250's version of VAD. The 190 VAD files dropped into 238 perform (for me at least) exactly as they did when I had 190 OS loaded. At least now with 238 OS and 190 VAD files, I can also have Vlingo working (which didn't work in OS 190).

I noticed another glitch. In 5.0.0.238 the Voice Note recordings are quite distorted.

Default Prob w/ loader.exe

deleted vendor file and connecte BB Bold then tried to load 5.0.0.238 using loader.exe but it simply launches the application loader wizard and lists all exisitng apps on my BB.

Ive previously loaded new OS versions without any hitches and currently running 4.6.0.301

Any ideas?

1. Hotspot Browser with WiFi seems to load slower than Media Net. However if i disable JavaScript, pages render quickly. I am not sure what could be the reason. The same set of pages used to load quickly on .190.

2. Return key to Show Description on a Feed doesn't work anymore. Now its double keypress. Even if u press the trackball, you have to select "Show Description" from the Short Menu.

Will update if I any more issues.

I'm still using it, but I'm noticing I get more random resets than I did with 4.6.1.250, and not just in the browser. All my 3rd party applications are working, except for Mobipocket, which is unable to access its ebookstore.

Definite battery problems with .238 for me. This morning, by 9:30, I had 50% battery with no usage and in a holster.

Have to downgrade back to 4.6 for this reason.
