I think I will wait for the first revision. Hopefully, it will have a larger screen (no reason for the trackpad with touch screen) and higher resolution. If Blackberry could get Swype technology, I might be willing to forgo a keypad altogether.

It is absolutely confirmed.

I saw one in the wild yesterday. Asked my friend to see it.

Me "hey can I see that"

Him "see what?"

Me "your blackberry"

Him "why?"

Me "because it's the new one and I just want to look"

Him "you'll have to wait until next month"

So, the slider exists, from what little he allowed me to see it's quite nice, and I'm anticipating a late August release.

Can't wait to get mine :D

He said it was good.

OS 6 is slated to be a major improvement on the phone, this I've heard from multiple sources.

The one thing I've heard against the slider is that the keypad is a little plasticy and flimsy. Most people who are testing the phone still not not have the very final version.

I've seen a few people with these devices now, even in Toronto this weekend.

RIM should announce the Slider, "Storm" 3 and OS 6 today at 11:30-noon-ish

Interestingly enough, the RIM website indicates that the Torch 9800 supports UMA (carrier dependent). Therefore, it would make sense that we will see this phone launched on other carriers than ATT (Hello, Tmo?) once the exclusivity period is over.
