Red face How to close the applications in the background

Please Login to Remove!

Hello members,
I am a newbie to BB world. I recently upgraded my phone to BBTorch 9810. I want to know how can I close all the application running in background, so that my processor speed is not effected. Specifically, how do I close the applications running in background?

Thank you,

There will always be some apps showing as if they are running in the background, but they will not impact your device's performance. Those apps are Messages, Phone, Browser, BlackBerry Messenger, and you will also see a 'Home' icon.

To see what's running, you can press and hold the Menu button (left of trackpad) and you will see some icons show up on the screen. You cannot close/exit the ones above, but if you see others you can click the icon to go into the app, then press the Menu button once in the app and select either Exit or Close from the menu.

There are some applications you can't close (Messages, Browser, Home Screen, BBM). The others would be application specific. If they don't close in response to the escape button, there is usually a menu option.

A well written application should not affect your CPU performance unless it is performing some function. Then presumably you ran it so that it would perform that function. You can monitor application for resource consumption by going to Options -> Device -> Application Management where you will find the aility to display current and past usage of CPU, Memory, Application Storage and your Usage.

(Darn juaack68 beat me again )
