Default Camera pictures remain encrypted...

Please Login to Remove!

...even after UNchecking "Encryption" on my Torch. I took a lot of photos at a party last night. I always keep a password and encryption of media files on, but I thought I could "remove" the encryption so I can copy them to my computer.

It seems some camera pics do revert back to a file without the ".rem" extension, but all the photos from last night and one previous party seem to keep that extension and remain encrypted even with encryption shut off.

Is there any way to retrieve these pictures or are they stuck on my phone in encrypted form forever?

First, turning encryption off does not remove encryption on the files that were created while encryption was on. Those files will remain encrypted.

To unencrypt files, turn encryption off. Then, one by one, on the BlackBerry, move the encrypted files to another folder, then move them back if you want.

I thought it might be a pain like that. What I found was I can use the "Explorer" feature on the BB and "Copy" each one, one by one, and paste it back on top of itself and it appears UNencrypted. A real pain when you have hundreds of pictures.

That's another way. The key is the BlackBerry has to write the file while encryption is off. I don't know any other way around it.
