Default 4.5.0.46 and quincy

I have used many of the betas out there and have been able to delete Quincy. For some reason on this version when you go to app loader it is grayed out and I can't delete it. I also also went to delete it in the java folder and it was no where to be found. It wouldn't bother me but when I did a battery pull last night it sent my info to RIM.

Just chalk it up to one of those things you'll endure when you use software you're not supposed to be using.

I installed 46 last night as well and like the OP didn't find the Quincy files, so I just assumed it was included. What does it look like when the BB sends info to RIM?

C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\RIMIn ternalTools-4.5.0.46 then go into the jave folder and look for these files

net_rim_quincy.cod
Net_rim_quincy_ui.cod
net_rim_quincy_config_std.cod
net_rim_quincy_speech__icon.cod
net_rim_quincy_reports_new.cod
net_rim_batterylog.cod

I got your e-mail....Check that and it "SHOULD" be there...it comes bundled in with the OS for the 8310... and it's def there if after you did a pull, you sent an e-mail to RIM.... but thats all the files that need to be removed...GL

Can't you just delete the RIM internal tools from the Windows add/remove programs panel? That's what I did, but before I installed the OS on the handset.

I didn't have this folder after installing on my PC and no sign of Quincy on the phone either.

I put .46 on my 8820 and have not found those files yet at all. Not in the file path listed above or anywhere else.

Not all versions have the RIM Tools included.

If you remove the following .alx files from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\RIMInternalTools-4.5.0.46, you should be good:

Batterylog.alx
Celldata.alx
linktrack.alx
quincystd.alx

Maybe if I share the version of the software I have someone who knows more than I do can tell me whether this one has the RIM "tools" included...I am not really looking to keep this OS on if it is embedded and can't be found or removed.

I have v4.5.0.46 (Platform2.7.0.63)

The right answer is already posted in this thread. This quote is the correct way to remove the RIM Internal Tools. Deleting folders, .alx files, or .cod's leaves the whole package still installed to your PC. Install whatever package you have and then check Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and uninstall RIM Internal Tools. Very simple.

The problem is that no one reads threads or searches anymore. People just expect their question to be answered individually, even if it's the same question that has been asked before.

For example in the 8300 forum: How can I change the color or my trackball on my Curve?

A question asked many, many, many times...with its answer easily found by searching.
