Default Awesome upgrade for me

I have tried virtually all of the previous versions, both official and leaks and while many of them offered some improvements, I never felt that any made as much difference with respect to battery life and memory management as this one does. I have been running 148 for the past month or so and was generally happy with it.

I downloaded and installed 151 yesterday and have noticed significant improvements in three areas thus far:

1) Memory leak gone. 18 hours from last reboot and memory had dropped only 1.2 Mb. I have used every app on my phone to see if anything triggers a memory leak and nothing does. I would have lost at least 10 - 15 Mb on any previous OS. Also, I booted up with approximately 6.5 Mb more with 151 then with 148.

2. Average battery loss per Meterberry has been 1.5 per hour since boot up which is half of my previous discharge rate.

3. Camera is much faster, actually usable in many situations now.

I'm sure there may be other improvements, but these alone justify the upgrade in my opinion.

Update: 4.7.0.151 is a #*@%!^$ MIRACLE!

Ever since moving out here about two months ago, I've barely been able to use my phone at all because the signal was so bad. Even sitting outside I could barely hold a conversation because most of the time whoever I was talking to couldn't hear me or I couldn't hear them. Every other call got dropped. I tried a few different OS versions, including hybrids, and nothing solved the problem.

Today, though, I spent an hour on the phone walking all over my house and the call didn't break up a single time. Even in spots that were known dead zones it was totally fine. Neither my friend nor I could believe it. lol

This one's a keeper!

Everything works fine. OS is fast and memory leak is virtually gone. Been holding around 35MB all day. Seems to hold 1XEV more frequently as well. Seems someone finally got this thing right.

CSCOTTY: What's the really nice surprise if I load 0.90 radio with the .151 OS? A BRICK?

I too no longer hold EDGE consistently...not like .148 and .90radio. This hybrid was awesome for holding EDGE 99% of the time.

So what's the surpise?

EDGE is a lot better than previous version, memory leak is better too.
but when i make/receive a call, it defaults on headset instead of handset, and i have to switch it everytime which is frustrating.

You guys having EDGE problems need to go in to Options/advanced options/TCP IP and deselect everything. Then go to manage connections, and force 2g only.

You won't be able to use Youtube, but for most everything else it will stay EDGE.

I agree, this OS is pretty damn good.

fixed the headset issue, everything works ok! even with tcp/ip enabled, EDGE still holds!

Great build. Its a lot faster than the 148 that I previously was using for a few days.

Keep these coming! It makes the Storm into an awesome phone as it is now a lot more responsive and battery works longer; not to mention that there is no memory leak!

Best hold of the EDGE I have had so far.. and I have tried a lot to hold the EDGE. There is only one thing .. when using the youmail visual voice mail for blackberry application it my phone goes to edge and will not go back until I close the application and reset the mobile connection. So I uninstalled it and now its working full time.

Why do you think you would happen?

the radio is good (for me). The only time I lost EDGE was when I used the youmail visual voice mail application, so I deleted that and now its been 2 days with a solid EDGE and memory is good, everything seems to be working GREAT (for me).

Unlocked users (on T-mobile) I would recommend trying this one out.

Since updating to .151, EDGE is showing up faster and not losing EDGE as much when I had .148 installed.

Also, the memory leak seems to be almost non-existent.

Because this upgrade isn't offered by Verizon, and the wireless upgrade is to get the latest OS version approved by Verizon.
