Question playing .wma files on BES 5.0.1

Please Login to Remove!

After I install BES 5.0.1, do I have to do anything specific to have my users be able to play .wma file email attachments on their devices? Tweak Blackberry Server Configuration perhaps? Thanks. -MBH

I think you may need to install Windows MEdia player on BES Server.

Got WMP 10 on it already. Is there anything else to make this work that you know of? Thanks. -MBH

Hmmm. Check if the OS version of device supports this feature.

I think I have gotten you confused. I haven't installed 5.0.1 yet. I am going to in upcoming weeks. I am just trying to get some ducks in a row first. I know of no reason why this won't work as advertised on 5.0 selling point brochures, etc. I'm just bouncing it off of the forums. I'm not troubleshooting devices that won't do this, b/c I haven't installed yet. Hope this makes more sense. Thanks. -MBH

Make sure you open it and can play the files.

yeah, that would be a good test. Thanks Knotty and Expert. So, I guess you are saying if WMP passes this test, it should work on the devices, provided the device SW supports this. 4.2 or higher will support correct? Thanks. -MBH

The BlackBerry Attachment Service in 5.0 supports the .wma audio file format.

I would hope that OS 4.5 at least would be able to play them, but it might need OS 5
