Well, first off, I'm by no means a BB admin. I think I'm probably the BB admin with a little bit of knowledge and it makes him dangerous. So, everything I did is probably not the 'right' way to do it...lol

I ran the upgrade, all went well...no errors or glitches at all. Rebooted the server and it all looked fine but none of the devices were getting email. so I resent the service books, resent the IT policy...still no email. Did another server reboot, phone reboot. Even went as far as deleting myself as a user and then trying to re-activate through Enterprise Activation. But it wouldn't even do that. The whole time I could send PIN messages and browse the internet, just no email.

So, I uninstalled the BB program on the server, rebooted and re-installed the original 4.1.3 program. Through the install, I noticed some of the fields were still populated. Rebooted and I just heard BB's going off...they all came back and automatically re-synced.

I got very lucky. The only reason I did it was cause I'm running 4.5 and wanted to see if any of the new features showed up. After that scare, I ain't doing nothin' to the server! At least not until 4.5 is public

Well 4.1.5 is working for me now...what did I/RIM do? We don't know...after a couple reboots and/or stopping of services...it would start to process mail and then stop 15-2 minutes later. After a couple hours of this at one point it kept processing stuff and all is fine now ('cept I was up til 2 AM and I'm tired...Mmmm Coffee).

I'm wondering, anyone has the knowledge how to hack the SQL to allow Rich Text emails?
see this info from BBCool:
UPDATE: Heard from a little birdie that the rich text e-mail feature is actually in this service pack, just locked away. Even if you flipped the switch with an SQL command, the handhelds on your BES would need the corresponding handheld software to enjoy the long-awaited feature.

I want that!

I have a friend that has the new firmware. And we did the sql hack and it is working. Haven't seen any issues, yet!

It will be so nice to finally be able to read my emails when the firmware comes out.. Especially all the cool travel deal places that always send in html...

Does anyone know when/if we can expect this update to the Professional version?

It won't be coming to BPS unfortunately. BPS is a stripped down BES and as such full BES advances will take a little longer to filter down to the more 'barebone' environment that is BPS. Later in the year you should see something, but not this side of summer.

Given that 4.1.4a was released ... I'd venture to guess 4.1 SP5 won't be released but rather SP6 ... whenever that comes.

For those wonderings about the OS 4.5 update (public release), from our At&t rep:

8820 and 8100c - June
8310 and 8300 - July
8120 and 8800 - August
8700c and 8110 - September

Waiting to hear from Sprint and Verizon.

That's ridiculous. Hopefully another carrier will release it first. I want HTML and to be able to access ALL my emails.

I used to use the http://localhost:7080/MDS addresses that were on ports 7080 and 7443 to control my BES with 4.1.4MR5. Now they don't work. Where did they go? The ones with mds-admin allow me to log in, but then tell me the site doesn't exist.

Considering how Verizon is always last to release OS updates don't hold your breath. Hopefully I'll have more updates shortly but looks like June before we start seeing OS 4.5

Glad to hear it's up and working for you now. I'd like to try again but definitely nervous about going through the whole process again...

So far so good.
Painless install.

Make sure you have a backup before you begin.

I'm willing to bet they're just telling you something. They seem to be good at that these days.
