Hello, I'm a new user to the BB 8320 and upon inserting the battery in the back to charge a battery indicator appeared on the screen with a red slash through it. Would that mean the battery is dead/defective or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It means the battery is dead. Leave it plugged in for a while and it should be ok.

Usually it will go away in about 20 minutes and the phone will boot up. How long have you waited?

It's been plugged in now for about 10-15 mins.

The battery still did not charge although it was left charged overnight... Would the battery be defective or some other issue?

No... I only have the one charger it came with.
