Default GMail Issue

Please Login to Remove!

I set up to sync my gmail and it did, but it only will sync new items, the unread and read items already in my inbox will not sunc. Is there an option to be able to sync my complete inbox?

Thanks,

Scott

I have the same problem. When I read email on my phone, my gmail won't set as "read" and vice versa. However, when I delete emails from my phone, it's gone from my gmail inbox, but not the other way around. I am using BIS and I did check the "sync delete folder", but still not working right.

Any idea?

I found it easier to just d/l the gmail app...no sync needed...and you treat it like your regular gmail account...but meh that is me...if I can't access the net to get too it; it isn't that important.

Yeah, Gmail app is the only way to do this. However, if you want to be notified of new mail to that Gmail account, the App wont do this (yet).

The GMail app certainly does notify you of new email. You have to enable this though. If you open up your GMail app and then press the BB menu button, you should see an option called settings. Go into the settings and the very first entry that you can enable is "Notify me when there is new mail in my Inbox. (Edit your Blackberry Profile to customize notification)". Checking this box enables the GMail app to modify things so that you are notified. This has been a feature for as long as I have used the GMail app which is about two years give or take some.

I have heard that there are issues using the GMail app on the storm...those who have installed it have been experiencing random reboots and what not.

What have you guys found?

Works just fine for me. I have had it installed from day one through all of the O/S's that have been available.

There are couple things that I don't use Gmail app:

- Contact won't sync with BB contact, I can't just type and show my contact in the TO: field
- when I click on the emailto: link on a browser, Gmail App doesn't open and compose an email.

Unless there are settings that I'm missing.

1. You are correct that your GMail contacts and BB contacts will not sync. I do believe there is a Google Sync app that will do this however.

2. You are correct with this as well. When you click an emailto: link in a browser it should open your default Messaging account that is setup on your BB. If you solely use GMail for your main email then you would probably need to setup GMail through BIS and forgo the app.

I am BES activated and use GMail mobile for my personal email. I have not need to sync between what is on my BB and what is in my GMail. I guess that is mostly why I am fine with the GMail app. It is another way to keep everything separate.
