Lets see... previously it was #4 because of #1. At least in our situation. #1 was the reason because the boss got addicted and went over the limit on his data plan. I always countered with the fact that I had to support users remotely and needed the device. Of course, I didn't know about the emulator at the time. I just wanted the thing to make sure I was getting updates on the status of our servers, etc. At present, thereason I don't have one is that we only have three users. Once we get more into full system monitoring and status, I might try my luck again (crosses fingers).

I would imagine it would be tough to support devices without having one of your own.

uh. not having one seems counter intuitive. It's like managing systems and networks with out a laptop and a crossover cable.

This thread turned me from lurker into registered member. I was number 2. After being a Windows Mobile fan for years, work gave me a BB which I had for 15 months. During that time, I wound up as the BES admin. A few months ago I got an AT&T Tilt, which was a compromise. It came with BlackBerry Connect, but I could I could get all of my power user goodness from WinMo.

So without one I don't see how one could provide proper support.
agreed - how can one's bosses hope you to provide support without one? very strange if you ask me...

I'm hoooking up with a newb next week to help out our tech team - first 2 things I'm gonna sort for him are a BB and a 3g usb modem...

I also tend to get the new devices first even if it's just for a week or so for familiarisation prior to pumping onto someone else

Hmm - I lurved the fact that when I woke up the first thing I checked was my BB - no 'overnight' emails = system issues, better get up and remote in sharpish..regular overnight emails = system ok so I can roll over and get another 15 minutes...

The fault you'll find is it isn't the 9000 ... which'll probably come out 2 weeks after you get the curve.

I like the curve, 9000 seems to have no keyboard?

Was at first site that showed a fake 9000 series with no keyboard. The nerve of them.

So the 9000 series seems pretty cool, maybe they will release them for WES.

Purchasing handed me a 8300 that looked like it was new.

Thought this was great then it started rebooting after a few keystrokes.

Have you try wiping reloading the newest OS?

Did try wiping, but after a few key strokes or letting it sit it would reboot.
Did not think a OS upgrade would fix that. phone is only a few months old (refurb with no warranty) found out today from the user that had it.
