We upgraded to 4.1.3 last night. So far only one of my devices is patched, and that is a brand new 8800 that we got from a consultant on Wednesday. Even my Pearls are not showing as patched according to the DST2007Query.exe.

The 8800 is 4.2.1.72, the Pearls are 4.2.0.71.

I have wirelessly sent the patch to a 7130c, several 8700's, and a Pearl. We are just waiting for it to take effect to see what happens next.

The doc I have for 4.1.3 doesn't say that it patches all devices, my doc says only 4.2 and higher. So I didn't expect it to patch my other devices.

Page 4, first topic of the Blackberry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 Service Pack 3 for IBM Lotus Domino states Device Software of 4.2.0 or later.

I've gone through those notes and the only mention I see for 4.2 is in relation to the MP3 attachments.

There's no mention of that in the DST section nor did TSupport mention to me any OS limitation for the DST patch. In fact, I'd be surprised if any 4.2 device OS didn't already have the updated DST tables onboard. Thanks!

In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP3, if users have BlackBerry® Device Software Version 4.2.0 or later installed, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server uses a SQL script to add updated Daylight Saving Time (DST) information to a new database table called SyncDeviceConfig. The BlackBerry Synchronization Service then synchronizes the time zone information from the database table with BlackBerry devices. Visit BlackBerry for more information about preparing BlackBerry devices for DST changes.

Thanks, that's interesting. In my original copy of the Release Notes it just says:

"In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP3, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server uses a SQL script to add updated Daylight Saving Time (DST) information to a new database table called SyncDeviceConfig. The BlackBerry Synchronization Service then synchronizes the time zone information from the database table with BlackBerry devices. See Impact of North American Daylight Saving Time changes in 2007 on BlackBerry customers for more information about preparing your environment for DST changes."

Based on your declaration, I re-downloaded the release notes and sure enough, now it's reading for Device Software Version 4.2.0.

Thanks for the clarification!

Enough!

Read this....

http://www.blackberry.com/select/dst...t_DST_2007.pdf

in there it states in black and white :-

The following versions of the BlackBerry Device Software do not require an update: 4.1.0.375, 4.1.0.377, 4.1.0.378, and 4.2.1, or later. Updates are not currently available for BlackBerry Devices running BlackBerry Device Software versions earlier than 4.0. You can update all other versions of the BlackBerry Device Software using one of the following methods:
• User-initiated wireless update: Using the browser on their BlackBerry device, users can visit BlackBerry to download the appropriate RIM DST 2007 patch based on the version of BlackBerry Device Software that is running on their BlackBerry device.
• Administrator-initiated wireless update: You can push the RIM DST 2007 patch to all supported BlackBerry devices over the wireless network.
• User-initiated update using a computer: Using a browser on their computer, users can visit BlackBerry to download the appropriate RIM DST 2007 patch based on the version of BlackBerry Device Software that is running on their BlackBerry device.

sorted !

Default Don't really need DST Query Tool after 4.1.3

They finally fixed the Application Status / Config Status columns, so I can just export a list and see who got the DST Patch from that!

I contacted TSupport and asked them to direct me to a specific place on the blackberry website where either a.)it is explained that SP3 includes the DST "fixes" contained in 4.1 SP2 HF3, etc. or b.)that upgrading to SP3 was a valid way to address the DST changes. After an hour on the phone, it's apparent that this is not clearly documented anywhere on their site. I was able to finally get them to send me an email stating that SP3 contains the DST fixes from previous versions and would be sufficient prepare my environment for the DST changes...whether that email is worth anything is debatable. I'm still going to patch every device since only 4.2 devices were specifically mentioned in the release notes or on the DST site.

Default 4.1.2 upgrade to 4.1.3

Just thought I'd throw in some good news for the sp3 upgrade.

Running Win2K sp4 2GB of ram
MSDE db

db update took 4 minutes
J2SE update took 2 minutes
BES Server files update took 4 minutes
reboot took place
MDS update took a minute
services started
Berries working fine

No errors on screen or in logs

I have 150 berries mixed telus, bell and rogers all working well. Now I'm on the step where I push out the DST patch to the berries. Fire in the hole. I'll let you know how it works out.

Default 4.1.2 upgrade to 4.1.3 continued

all the berries took the DST patch at the same time ~ 4hrs after it was initiated. The 10 I checked after reboot looked clean, could surf and send and receive email and the options/dst patch said applied.

There is Hotfix 1 for 4.1.3. Anyone tested yet?
It solves those SDR's:
SDR 115964 - Instant Messaging for M$ LCS
SDR 117384 - MDS Services
SDR 119459 - MDS Studio application repository

Release Notes

Seems like not needed patch for me ... but who knows.

Anyone had any issues with BES 4.1 SP3 for Exchange? Its about killed my BES and I'm now planning for a clean uninstall this weekend with a roll back.
My symptoms are:
-BB devices keep getting prompted to reboot b/c security permissions have changed again (possible DST patch redeploy)
-Our MDS browser is no longer working, but the VZW browser is working.
-I somehow now have two LCS servers listed, but only one contains the settings, while the other is not configurable at all.
-the proxy tab is missing on the server configuration...our MDS broswer is suppose to go thru our proxy, yet I cannot find where to try and get that set.

Help please...driving me crazy and I may have to resort to 6 hr. hold time with RIM.

TIA.

Hi,

The proxy tab has been moved into the MDS properties, have a look, you'll find it there hopefully.
